USW MISSION

UNION LEADERSHIP

The Executive of USW Local 9548 strives to bring fairness and justice to the shop floor through enforcement of the collective agreement, provincial legislation and company policy. Our union successfully represents our members in-house, independent of 3rd party assistance. Our team consists of labour arbitration experts, human rights avocates, injured worker advocates, and negotiation specialists. All representatives are trained by the United Steelworkers and are extrememly competent in their roles.

The Executive in always working to build a stronger union through promoting diversity within its ranks and by building on the talents of the individuals that answer the call to action.

IN THE WORKPLACE

The representatives of USW Local 9548 monitor the workplace and enforce the collective agreement, employment standards, human rights and health and safety.

IN THE COMMUNITY

USW Local 9548 plays an active role in the community. Each year members of the union support the donation of thousands of dollars to local charities and community centers. The union is an affiliate with the Sault Ste. Marie & District Labour Council, through which we support and assist in holding community events for the city.

The local annually holds scholarships for its members family to support our members children and grandchildren in achieving a post-secondary education.
